The Development of Cane Wash Water Treatment Systems in Hawaii

Engel, L.  1978.  After passing the wash water through a drag-type trash screen to remove trashy material, cane stalks and solid particles are about one quarter inch in size, further pretreatment is used to reduce the solids loading. In view of the volcanic types of soil, pretreatment Dorrclone units are considered which is a liquid cyclone separator having a cylindrical/conical shell with a tangential feed inlet and outlets for both an underflow and overflow.
