Farmers demand hike in sugarcane price to Rs 600 per quintal

Saharanpur: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Verma) and other organizations met SDM Manvendra Singh and handed over the memorandum related to various demands of sugarcane farmers, reports Live Hindustan.

Bhagat Singh Verma, president of the organisation said that the farmers will continue their agitation till the government declares the sugarcane price at Rs 600 per quintal. The country will progress only if the farmers progress, he said.

The farmers also demanded payment of pending cane dues at the earliest with interest on it as per the rule.
