An Evaluation of Filter Cake as a Feed to Ruminants

Le Grand, F.  1979.  Large quantity of cane fiber is present in filter cake, mainly due to the use of bagacillo as a filtering aid. Cane fiber is highly lignified, which makes bagacillo poorly digestible and detrimental to the daily feed intake and gains of the ruminants. Juice clarification should also be modified in such a manner that the resulting filter cake can make a significant contribution as an animal feed stuff.
