Rains were expected to reach most of the sugarcane producing regions in São Paulo, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro and in the southern part of Minas Gerais state this week, benefiting the sugarcane crops, according to Brazilian weather forecast company Climatempo, reports Sugaronline.

Low to moderate intensity rains are expected in these regions, while the southeast region of Goiás and Mato Grosso state should receive isolated rains.

By Friday, rains are expected to fade, returning between Sunday and Tuesday next week over the southern part of the country in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and parts of Paraná state.

A polar air mass is also expected to reach the centre-south region by the end of next week, decreasing temperatures, but there is no risk of frosts or damage to the crops, according to Climatempo.
